This web site is our family's own digital living room
It's a way for our family members and invited friends to share, and stay in touch as frequently as possible and as best as we can
Our family has been scattered to the four winds. Yet despite miles, certain family members have acted as conduits, or representatives of their respective parts of the country and world, to try and keep our family close. We owe a lot to these people for keeping us at least somewhat informed about each other's activities. This web site provides a new way for us to keep up and establish new lines of communication. I think we owe it to our future generations a chance to know where they came from.
A Rosa By Any Other Name.
This web site is not limited to family members whose last names are Lugo or Rosa. The truth is that the name is not of any importance, but family and communication are. We had to give it a name, and this is it, but the real purpose of the site is to bring us all together regardless of what our names are.
"Who, Me?!"
There are two main ways you can use this site-as a viewer and as a contributor. As a viewer, you can surf around and look at photos of your family members, read their poetry or stories, and have online discussions. As a contributor, you become an "editor" of the site by adding photographs and uploading written documents.
Especially in the beginning, this web site will feel "lopsided," because most of the information posted is from the original editor, Jose. Let's make sure that we use the site to its full potential, and not limit it to one editor. Rosa-lugo.com is for all of us, and it needs more editors.
The site has been set up to make being an editor easy. If you can take a digital photograph or scan a picture, you can do this! (If you can't do either of those things, it takes about five minutes to learn.)
The best part is that if you are an editor, you don't have to do it all at once. You can do a little here, a little there. All it takes is one photograph to make the site more full and complete, and just a few minutes to upload documents that will give family members a world of new insight into each other.
