To everyone in the Rosa-Lugo family circle
Working in the multimedia and web development/design industry, I have envisioned this web site bringing us together for quite some time. I started my research by looking for web sites or services that could provide a place to post photographs, writings, and family member directories.
The answer I came up with-nothing.
Genealogy.com focused on the family tree, but all members had a spot for only one photograph each, and no opportunity to express themselves in any other way, such as a journal area. Kodak had a photo album site, but it didn't have a very good search function and also lacked in the journal area. Of course, nowadays, there is “blogging,” but you can't really share family photos or access a family directory with this method. (It's more of a personal tool than a family tool.)
I discovered that there just wasn't a place where families could post photos and written work and documents, have a chat/discussion area, and access a family directory. So I decided to build it myself with the help of my employees at RosArt Multimedia, Inc.
My research led people at the office at RosArt to say "Hmm, that's an interesting idea...;" or "Gee, my family is spread so far apart, too...;" Employees have got pretty excited about the idea of our family website, so who knows where it will go from here.
I dedicate this site to my son who as most of you know, did not get to grow up knowing anyone from his father's side of his family. My hope is that this will help him get to know all of you and you him, although I hope everyone enjoys it and finds use for it.
